Taylor Steele called the Club meeting to order.  Brian Stedman was the Rotarian of the Day.  Brian led the Club in prayer, saying the Pledge of Allegiance and the recitation of the 4-Way Test.
 
Announcements
 
We had two happy dollars.  Jordan Rickets has a new son Sutton Ray born on June 13, Weight 8 lbs., 4 oz., height 20 ½ inches. Eric Ward just celebrated his move to Ardmore three years ago.
 
Bob Bates helped make arrangements for three students to attend the RYLA Camp this year.
 
Speaker
 
Rotarian of the Day Brian Stedman introduced his speaker, Mary Finley, Executive Director of the New Dimension Literacy Council.  Besides her work at New Dimension Mary is also the Associate Minister at the First Baptist Church, 16 E St. NE, in Ardmore.  She also serves as President of Ardmore Literacy Leadership (A.L.L.).  A.L.L is formed of a group of approximately 13 organizations in the community that all work in some way to promote literacy. Mary’s presentation focused on local literacy and the work that New Dimension does in the community to address the needs.  20% of Carter County residents have less than a 12th grade education.  New Dimension does Adult Basic Education (ABE), English as a Second Language (ESL) and GED classes.  The classes and tutoring take place at three locations including Ardmore, Marietta, and Healdton.  New Dimension provides all of its services free of cost to ages 16 and up. There were eight graduates this year. New Dimension’s work is funded by local, state, and federal organizations.
