Guest Speaker
Sarah Fulton introduced guest speaker, Julia Roberts. Julia is the lead Crime Scene Investigator (CSI) for the Ardmore Police Department. Julia graduated in 2009 with a degree in Biology from Oklahoma State University.  She started working for the APD in November, 2009.  Julia’s work is varied as she investigates all types of crimes from shoplifting and burglary to murder.  Ardmore’s CSI unit provides assistance to the Lighthorse police, the OSBI, FBI, and communities in the area. Ardmore has one of only five accredited laboratories in Oklahoma.  The others are the OSBI, City of Tulsa, Oklahoma City, and the Oklahoma Medical Examiner’s office.  Most of the crimes in Ardmore are non-violent.  We average 2-3 murders a year.  Much of Julia’s work center’s around fingerprint collection and analysis and forensic examination of the contents of cell phones.  DNA evidence is collected and sent to the state lab for processing.
