Magazine Report

Emmett Hudgins presented this month’s magazine report.  There was an article by Jennifer Jones and several articles that dealt with the importance of connections.  Connecting young people with older folks has benefits for both groups.  Loneliness is becoming a global health problem that has implications for physical health.  There was an article about efforts to grow coral reefs using solar powered electrical energy.  Another article discussed efforts to help Afghan refugees.  The Rotary Community Corps works to help their communities when help is needed.  More than 100,000,000 cell phones are discarded annually in the United States.  There was an article that Emmett encouraged us to read about Salonika (Thessaloniki) in Greece.  It was the home to a large Jewish population that was forced from Spain in 1492.  Later on the population was nearly wiped out by the Germans during the holocaust and German occupation in 1942-1943.
